TFAM offers online viewing service during renovation
Because the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum has been undergoing major renovation from August 29 and reopen some time in July 2023, artworks displayed in previous exhibitions and information relevant to those pieces can be viewed on the Japan Search website: https://jpsearch.go.jp/organization/fujibi. Viewers can access the following six TFAM exhibitions: “Masterpieces of Chinese Ceramics” (2014); “From Hokusai to Hiroshige: Grand Masters of Ukiyo-e Art” (2015); “Katana—A Millennium of Swordsmith Mastery: Premiering the Latest Acquisitions of Japanese Swords” (2016); “Exotic, Exquisite Copperplate Works of Manet” (2019); “THIS IS JAPAN IN TOKYO (2020); “Western Prints: Its History and Allure” (2021); and “Hokusai, Hiroshige, Yoshida, and Hasui: Landscape of Journey in Japanese Woodblock Prints” (2022).
September 2, 2022Museum to undergo major repair, closed for 10 months
The Tokyo Fuji Art Museum will be closed to the public from August 29, 2022 due to maintenance to be carried out to the facility and equipment, with completion slated for some time in July 2023. Among the work being planned are upgrades to protect and preserve over the long term the museum’s collection of fine art. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will inform visitors as to the specific date our museum will reopen. We thank you for your patience and look forward to your continued patronage.
August 19, 2022Temporary museum closing extended
Due to the Japanese government extending its declaration of national emergency in response to the ongoing pandemic, the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum will be temporarily closed until Monday, May 31. The reopening of our Museum will be announced on our website, official Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts as well as on LINE. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to hosting you soon.
May 10, 2021Notice of temporary closing of the museum
Due to the declaration of a State of Emergency, the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum will be temporarily closed from Sunday April 25th until Tuesday May 11th, as a preventive measure against the spread of the COVID-19. Further information after Wednesday May 12th will be announced later on its website, official Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LINE.

April 24, 2021Notice of re-extension of temporary closing of the museum
The Tokyo Fuji Art Museum has been closed from March 2 until March 31 to prevent the further spread of the new coronavirus. However, we have decided to re-extend the period of its temporary closing until further notice.

March 30, 2020Notice of re-extension of temporary closing (until March 31, 2020)
The Tokyo Fuji Art Museum was to be closed from March 2 to March 23 to prevent the further spreading of the new coronavirus. However, in compliance with the Japanese government’s policy by the task force on the new coronavirus which is announced on March 19, we have decided to extend further the period of the museum’s temporary closing until Tuesday, March 31.
Reopening plans on and after Wednesday, April 1 will be announced later on its website, official Twitter and Facebook.

March 20, 2020Notice of extended temporary closing (until March 23, 2020)
The Tokyo Fuji Art Museum was initially to be closed from Monday, March 2 to Monday, March 16 to prevent the further spreading of the new coronavirus. However, considering the domestic and international circumstances, we have decided to extend the period of the museum’s temporary closing until Monday, March 23.
Reopening plans on and after Tuesday, March 24 will be announced later on its website, official Twitter and Facebook.

In compliance with the request of Japan's government agencies, the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum will be temporarily closed from Monday, March 2 to Monday, March 16 to prevent the further spreading of the novel coronavirus.
The Museum is currently scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, March 17, but further information will be announced later on its website, official Twitter and Facebook.

The Tokyo Fuji Art Museum will be closed from Monday, March 25, to Wednesday, March 28, in preparation for the special exhibition, “The Palace of Heaven on Earth: Works from the Palace Museum in Beijing”, which will open on March 29 in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of normalized diplomatic relations between China and Japan.
