Senior Executive Curator Akira Gokita issued a formal statement on the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum commemorating 40 years since the museum was established on November 3, 1983. Thanking everyone for their support, counsel and patronage over the years, he listed the museum’s numerous initiatives and accomplishments, from the holding of 50 overseas cultural exchange exhibition to its art appreciation program that has invited 11,632 elementary and junior high school students from 137 schools in the Hachioji area. He also cited TFAM winning the Digital Archive Japan 2023 Award for digitizing its collection of artworks and uploading them on an open, searchable national database; it was the only private cultural institution to earn the award among five other winners. In closing, Gokita introduced TFAM’s rebranding initiative that includes a renewed mission statement as well as a redesigned logo and logotype.
