SUMMARY
Morandi repeatedly painted the subject matters of still life such as bottles and dishes arranged orderly on a table in his studio throughout all his life. Such a bottle represents a kind of symbol, but the bottle itself is not important. It is a deepening of an approach to reduce an object to mass, tone, color, and shape—that is, a very act of painting itself—through its existence. Led by the harmony of its soft color palette based on creamy white, this pure rhythmic composition is filled with a tranquil balance and solemnity and creates a fusion of classical tradition and modern technique, as if to cast an eternal light.
