As part of the Louvre Museum’s exhibition, “Guillon Lethière, Born in Guadeloupe,” the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum has contributed “La Fayette Introducing Louis-Philippe to the People of Paris” from its collection of Western paintings. According to the Louvre, “Guillaume Guillon-Lethière (1760-1832) was one of the major figures on the French artistic scene in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. His career was brilliant, but he is largely forgotten today.” The historically valuable “La Fayette” on loan from TFAM was completed by Guillon-Lethière a year before his death and the sole contribution to the exhibition from a Japanese museum. “Guillon Lethière, Born in Guadeloupe” opened on November 13 and will run until February 17, 2025.
