Museum holds concert on musical Impressionism by award winning pianist Takaya Sano

On August 10, the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum organized a special concert to commemorate the holding of the exhibition, “Frontiers of Impressionism: Paintings from the Worcester Art Museum.” The piano recital by Takaya Sano, winning pianist of numerous competitions both in Japan and abroad, featured tributes to Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel of France as well as famed American composer Charles Tomlinson Griffes—maestros of classical Western music who subscribed to a movement known as musical Impressionism. The concert also included a discussion on the encounter between Griffes and the renowned encounter between Japanese composer and conductor Kosaku Yamada.
