Robert Capa’s beloved Nikon on display

On this day on May 25, war photographer Robert Capa was killed by a landmine while being dispatched to cover the French Indochina war in 1954. His life of 40 years and seven months was a kaleidoscope of war, love, tragedy and hope. Honoring the 70th anniversary of Capa’s death, the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum is holding “A Century of War Caught on Camera: A Homage to Robert Capa 70 Years After His Death” exhibition with some 200 of his works, including vintage prints, drawn from TFAM’s collection. Among the highlights of the items on display is this Nikon S camera shown here, which he cherished and used until the moment of his tragic end.
