On February 24, the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum kicked off “The Tale of Genji: Unfolding Narrative of Art and Culture from the Past to Modernity” exhibition. Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the museum’s founding, the exhibition features some 120 artworks, crafts and literature—including one designated as a national treasure and seven others as important cultural properties by the Japanese government—drawn from over 40 collectors and collections throughout the country. “The Tale of Genji” exhibition will remain open until March 24, with a number of pieces to be rotated out and replaced with new works on March 11.
