OVERVIEW

We are pleased to announce that the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum is hosting the ‘Exhibitions of Embassies: Introspective on Cultural Exchanges with the World.’ This exhibition series has been made possible through the dedicated collaboration of foreign embassies in Japan, who are deeply committed to disseminating their country’s culture as a window for cultural exchange.

This groundbreaking exhibition series marks the first attempt to illuminate lesser-known aspects of culture by showcasing treasured artworks and cultural assets loaned from embassies and ambassadorial residences of various countries. In addition to the exhibitions, we organize seminars and workshops led by embassy personnel. Moreover, we collaborate with our museum shop and restaurant, offering visitors immersive experiences that bring them closer to the vibrant cultures of these nations.

The Tokyo Fuji Art Museum continues to work hand-in-hand with countries worldwide to promote cultural exchange for peacebuilding in all its forms, providing opportunities for visitors to enjoy and appreciate outstanding cultures worldwide under its motto, ‘Fostering Global Citizens is Our Mandate.’

Message from Ambassador Roberto Seminario regarding this exhibition

Dear visitors,

It is an honor for me, on behalf of the Government and people of Peru, to extend a warm welcome to this important exhibition about my country at the prestigious Tokyo Fuji Art Museum.

Peru and Japan established diplomatic relations over 150 years ago, with Peru being the first country in Latin America to trust in Japan. Throughout this fruitful relationship, we have forged ever-stronger economic, cultural, and social ties. Today, around 50,000 Peruvians reside in Japan, further enriching the bonds between our nations.

Peru is a country with a millennial history, the cradle of great civilizations such as the Nazca, Mochica, Chimú, and Inca, whose impressive architectural works, art, and technology still amaze us. Our cultural, natural, and gastronomic wealth is recognized worldwide. From the imposing Andes mountains to the Pacific beaches, passing through the Amazon rainforest, Peru offers a diversity of unique landscapes and experiences.

This exhibition will allow you to learn more about our country, its people, traditions, and the diverse attractions it offers. I invite you to enjoy and be amazed by the magic of Peru, a nation that has known how to preserve its ancestral legacy while projecting itself into the future.

Welcome!
