From the 14th century in Europe, with the dissemination of papermaking processes and advances in printing techniques, printers were able to perfect the ability to incorporate illustrations and paintings in books, while techniques for a new form of artistic expression were developed. By featuring works from the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum collection, the exhibition “Western Prints: Its History and Allure” explores the evolution and appeal of prints in the West through such artist-printmakers as Albrecht Durer in 15th-century Germany, Francisco Goya (1746-1828) in Spain and Édouard Manet in 19th-century France.
