The exhibition presents works by Japanese painter and printmaker Leonard Foujita (1886-1968) collected by the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum over the years. Drawn mainly from the 18 years Fujita lived and rose to fame in Paris for his paintings of beautiful women and cats, the TFAM collection of 50 Foujita pieces includes illustrations and cover art for French books and magazines, as well as a priceless luxury book featuring his original, limited-run woodblock prints. The exhibition also displays some 8 other works by Foujita's School of Paris (École de Paris) contemporaries, including oil paintings and lithographs by École de Paris masters Modigliani, Chagall and Laurencin, among others.
