Held under an Austria-Japan cultural exchange initiative, which included the holding of the “Treasures of Imperial Household” exhibition at the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum and other venues throughout Japan, TFAM’s “Maki-e Lacquer and Oriental Ceramics” exhibition featured works from China and Japan. Of the 101 pieces on display at the Hofburg Silberkammer in Vienna, 58 consisted of Japanese lacquer ware from the Momoyama to Edo periods, while 48 ceramics and porcelain were created during the Qing Dynasty. The exhibition earned excellent reviews and drew more than 100,000 visitors.
