“Masterpieces of Ukiyoe Woodblock Prints” from the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum collection was held as a cultural event commemorating the 30th anniversary of Singapore’s independence. Composed of 50 works by 20 artists, the exhibition featured portraits of women, kabuki actors and samurai warriors, and immortal poets, as well as portrayals of historical tales, scenic landscapes and events drawn from the four seasons and the etiquette and customs of everyday life. It also exhibited ukie prints that employ western conventions of perspective and books printed by engraved woodblocks.
