OVERVIEW

Tokyo Fuji Art Museum’s “Eternal Treasures of Japanese Culture: Beauty and Spirit of Japan” opened at the National Museum in Bogotá, Colombia. Following the successful showing of TFAM’s “Treasures of Japanese Art” in February 1993, this exhibition came about at the strong request from various Colombian circles. The second showing in Colombia of Japanese art drawn from TFAM’s collection consisted of 63 works of art, from paintings and calligraphy to ukiyoe woodblock prints, porcelain and ceramics, as well as dyed and woven fabrics, from the Momoyama period to the modern era. The exhibition was co-sponsored by the Colombian government’s Agency for Cultural Affairs.
