Host : Province of Florence; Tokyo Fuji Art Museum
Supported By : Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Italy; Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Italy; Embassy of Japan in Italy
“Eternal Treasures of Japan” was co-organized by the Province of Florence and the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum as a part of an Italy-Japan cultural exchange initiative. The venue, Medici Riccardi Palace in which the Medici Museum is housed, is a historic building in Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. The exhibition introduced some 100 works representing two cultures—the Japanese aristocracy and samurai warrior caste—from TFAM’s extensive collection of paintings, ukiyoe woodblock prints, lacquer ware, calligraphy, porcelain and ceramics, and feudal arms and armor from the Heian to the Edo periods.
