With the full backing of the China Artists Association, the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum provided “Masterpieces of Western Painting from the Renaissance to Impressionism,” the first ever exhibition of Western paintings in China that opened at the National Art Museum in Beijing. Held in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between China and Japan, the exhibition was comprised of 70 representative works from the 16th to the 20th century from TFAM’s collection. The event not only earned critical acclaim from the artistic community of China, it drew an impressive number of visitors from across the country.
