OVERVIEW

Founded in the 19th century, the Austrian Artists’ Society (Vienna Künstlerhaus) has established a proud tradition of fostering contemporary artists, and for providing venues to exhibit their works. Tokyo Fuji Art Museum’s “Treasures of Japanese Art” exhibition was the first of its kind held in Austria, featuring 124 works, including hanging scrolls, ukiyoe woodblock prints, feudal arms and armor, and lacquer ware. The exhibition was made possible through the express request from Society president Hans Meyer.
