Sweden was the fifth country to host the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum’s “Treasures of Japanese Art” exhibition, and the second to held at the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm following TFAM’s “Dialogue with Nature” photo exhibition that opened in 1989. Drawn from TFAM’s extensive collection of Japanese art, the exhibition featured some 80 select masterpieces from the Muromachi to Edo periods and included Japanese paintings, ukiyoe woodblock prints, lacquer craft, and feudal arms and armor. It was the first time in 50 years that a major exhibition of Japanese art was held in Sweden. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended the opening ceremony.
