Linking the East with the West, the Silk Road served for centuries as a vital passageway for cultural, religious and commercial exchange, along which peoples of diverse origins and communities rose and fell, and where cultures and civilizations interacted and integrated. “The Great Silk Road Exhibition” introduces many of the finest Silk Road works—from Luoyang, Xi’an and Lanzhou to Dunhuang and Xinjiang—collected by premier museums and research institutes in China. Moreover, other renowned art and artifacts, together with those produced and brought to Japan, will also be featured for their historical ties with this country. One of the highlights of the exhibition are articles excavated at ancient Silk Road ruins that have been registered as World Heritage Sites.
