SUMMARY

Although whether this painting referred to as Mountain Range depicts a real scenery is not confirmed, it is considered that the landscape is probably conceived based on the view of the Alps. In the distant mountains and misty blue-and-white haze, a group of buildings which looks like a walled city is depicted. When looking closely at the picture, you can see that castles, houses and churches are scattered about in the woods depicted in the foreground. In the magnificent landscape of the mountain range and valleys, the buildings which convey to viewers the lives of people are painted finely with his delicate brushworks, and this work gives the effect of attracting viewers into the world of painting.
