On December 7, 2024, the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum invited Elena Kutsarova from the Republic of Bulgaria Embassy in Tokyo to hold a workshop on creating the Martenitsa, two dolls made from white and red yarn into a bracelet or tassel. A tradition of her country celebrating the arrival of spring, the red yarn symbolizes life, passion, health and love, while the white yarn represents the sun, strength, harvest and purity. Participants in the workshop were impressed by how easy it was to make the Martenitsa, with many saying they would decorate their sweaters, handbags or Christmas trees with the dolls.
