Students from Kasumi Elementary and Junior High School visit TFAM

On October 22, a group of third- and fourth-graders of Kasumi Elementary and Junior High School in Hachioji City visited the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum as part of its educational outreach initiative. Separating into three groups, the schoolchildren first viewed the “From the Renaissance to the 20 Century—500 Years of Western Paintings” exhibition attended by Faculty of Education students from nearby Soka University as part of their Museum Education II course. The docents presented episodes relating to the works on display and their points of interest. The children then viewed the “Samurai Art: The Warrior Aesthetic of Feudal Japan” exhibition, searching with schoolmates for various motifs depicted in each piece from a worksheet that they were provided.
