On August 25, the Digital Archive Japan Promotion Committee operating under the auspices of the Cabinet Office of the Japanese government, presented Tokyo Fuji Art Museum with its Digital Archive Japan 2023 Award. TFAM was one of six winning the award and the only private cultural institution to do so. Akira Gokita, the museum’s managing director and senior executive curator, participated in the online award ceremony organized in part by the National Diet Library of Japan held that day.
TFAM won the award for the advanced digitalization of its collection of artworks and use of the database Japan Search. Japan Search, according to its website, links digital archives in the publications, cultural properties and media arts fields, and organizes metadata of varying contents preserved by Japanese institutions and organizations into a searchable national, integrated and cross-cultural portal website.
