Chinese ambassador visits TFAM

On Thursday, December 1, His Excellency Cheng Yonghua, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Japan, and his wife, Mrs. Wang Wan, paid a courtesy call on the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum. TFAM Board of Trustees Chair Kenji Harashima, Director Akira Gokita and other officials were on hand to greet the delegation from the Chinese Embassy in Japan, who toured the “Chinese Characters: A Legacy and Marvel Perfected Over Three Millennia” exhibition currently being shown at the museum.

Among the topics raised during their discussion were the contributions TFAM has made over the years to the promotion of amicable relations between China and Japan over the years, a history that began with museum founder Daisaku Ikeda’s friendly overtures to China from 1968 and subsequent initiatives of the museum to advance bilateral cultural exchange.
