On June 4, “Hokusai to Hiroshige: Grand Masters of Ukiyo-e from Tokyo Fuji Art Museum’s Permanent Collection” opened at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMFA). The exhibition features 100 historically significant artworks, including the most iconic works of Japanese ukiyo-e prints by Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige. Many of these works have never been displayed outside Japan before.
The two museums have cooperated in numerous cultural exchange initiatives over the years. In 2013, TFAM supported NTMFA in launching the exhibition, “On Site: A Centennial Retrospective of Robert Capa.”
At the opening ceremony, Xu Qin-huang representing the Taiwanese Ministry of Art and NTMFA Director Xiao Zong-huang respectively delivered speeches. TFAM Director Satoshi Itsukida and curator Kenichi Hirano attended the ceremony.
The exhibition will run until July 31. Admission is free.
