On December 13, a Kingdom of Thailand delegation led by Minister of Culture Vira Rojpojchanarat paid a courtesy call on the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum.
TFAM Board of Trustees Chair Kenji Harashima welcomed the Thai minister and his delegation and spoke on the Museum’s history of cultural exchange with the Kingdom. Past initiatives include the holding of “The Land of Gentle Smiles: Special Exhibition of Photographs by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand” in 1989 and “The Special Exhibition in Commemoration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Ascession to the Throne” in 1996. Following their discussion, Minister Rojpojchanarat viewed the works on display in both the “A Wonderland of Flowers, Birds, Wind and Moon: The Heart and Soul of Japanese Art” and “From the Renaissance to the 20th Century: 500 Years of Western Paintings” exhibitions.
