TFAM Lion Mascots Named “Gao” and “Mu”

The Tokyo Fuji Art Museum announced the winning entries in a contest to name its two new mascot lion characters. The male mascot will be named “Gao,” which is the roar of a lion in Japanese that can also be read as “the king of paintings.” The female will be called “Mu,” drawn from “museum” and “muse” in English. The names were selected from more than 500 entries submitted by contestants nationwide.
