Change of Seasons and Special Exhibit of Hokusai Works

The Tokyo Fuji Art Museum will be exhibiting Japanese paintings, ceramics and lacquer craft that have been specially selected from its 30,000-piece collection based on the theme, “Masterworks of the Changing Seasons.” These works not only depict nature, as well as the customs and institutions of Japan, but also capture the wondrous change of seasons that have charmed and inspired the Japanese for generations.

TFAM will concurrently present two of representative works by Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849)—“Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji” and “The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido”—in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the master ukiyoe artist’s birth.
The “Changing Seasons” exhibition and special Hokusai exhibit will be on display from Saturday, October 9, to Friday, December 24. (Some works that are currently exhibited will be replaced by other pieces on Monday, November 15.)
