When the medium of photography first came into being in the 19th century, its principal enthusiasts worked for a variety of local magazines to capture urban landscapes and historical buildings. The “Through the Looking Lens: Ancient Ruins of the World” exhibition draws from the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum’s extensive collection of photographs, focusing on works of artifacts and architecture of a bygone era discovered across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
