Held in commemoration of Tokyo Fuji Art Museum’s 25th anniversary as well as the dedication of its New Wing, the special exhibition, Great Romance of the Three Kingdoms, consisted of two sections—the first which introduces literature and paintings of famous scenes from the chronicles, while the second features archaeological artifacts, including arms and living utensils, from that period in Chinese history. Of the some 150 pieces that were provided from 34 museums and institutes across China, 53 are designated national treasures; roughly 60 other works related to the Annals of the Three Kingdoms were also loaned from museums in Japan.
