The special exhibition, “Brian Wildsmith and His World of Illustrations and Picture Books—Fantasia from a Fairyland,” was held to celebrate 40 years of the British author-illustrator’s career. Often referred to as a “magician of colors,” Wildsmith’s brilliant illustrations border on fine art. A total of approximately 180 works, including oil paintings, posters and other artwork, were exhibited in the retrospective. Wildsmith has illustrated over 80 books, including four written by TFAM founder Daisaku Ikeda.
