Glory of Habsburg Empire PALACES IN AUSTRIA EXHIBITION

INTRODUCTION |
Tokyo Fuji Art Museum launches a new project of exhibition series entitled “Palaces of the World.” Through several exhibitions, this series will explore and introduce distinguished palaces around the world from various perspectives. Palaces represent a country’ s essence of architectural beauty, treasuries of traditional art, and places to reflect on the life of historical rulers. The series of exhibitions will mainly comprise art objects, furniture and household goods representing histories or stories of palaces, as well as belongings or relics of imperial rulers. And also using a film and photographs that show exterior and interior architecture of palace buildings and landscape of their gardens, they will provide visitors with an opportunity to get a feel for their magnificent scales. This exhibition will feature palaces in Austria that symbolized the glory of the Habsburg Dynasty which was centered in Vienna, the capital city of Europe, especially Vienna Hofburg and Schönbrunn Palace, among others, that the Habsburg families including Maria Theresa had left their marks. On display in this exhibition will be some 200 art objects, including paintings, sculpture, furniture, craftworks, daily goods, dishes, costumes, and jewelry, which are loaned from Imperial Furniture Collection, Vienna, that manages the collection of the Hofburg and Schönbrunn Palaces. |
